As a stakeholder-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water, the Alliance for Water Efficiency serves as a North American advocate for water-efficient products and programs, and provides information and assistance on water conservation efforts.

American Water Works Association

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational society dedicated to providing total water solutions assuring the effective management of water. Founded in 1881, the Association is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world. Our membership includes more than 4,500 utilities that supply roughly 80 percent of the nation’s drinking water and treat almost half of the nation’s wastewater. Our 50,000-plus total membership represents the full spectrum of the water community: public water and wastewater systems, environmental advocates, scientists, academicians, and others who hold a genuine interest in water, our most important resource. AWWA unites the diverse water community to advance public health, safety, the economy, and the environment.

Anacostia Riverkeeper

Anacostia Riverkeeper works to protect and restore the Anacostia River for all who live, work, and play in the watershed, and we advocate for a healthy river for all of its communities. We rely on law and advocacy to protect the river by improving water policy and outcomes. We deploy green infrastructure and trash trapping technologies to restore the watershed. We train community scientists to help monitor the water quality of their streams and river. We create meaningful encounters with the river for all watershed residents and visitors to connect to their Anacostia River.

Anacostia Watershed Society

Founded in 1989, the Anacostia Watershed Society is dedicated to the restoration and protection of the Anacostia River and its 176 square mile watershed. We do this by promoting and implementing field restoration projects, ensuring strong laws and policies are in place to protect water quality and promote restoration, field- and classroom-based education programs for adults and students in partnership with DC and Maryland schools, and recreation and volunteer programs to connect local communities with the river and streams of the watershed. Our goal is a clean and thriving Anacostia watershed for the benefit of all who live here and for future generations.

Association of Clean Water Administrators

Founded in 1961, originally known as the Association of State and Interstate Water Pollution Control Administrators, the Association of Clean Water Administrators is a national, nonpartisan professional organization. Association members are the State, Interstate and Territorial officials who are responsible for the implementation of surface water protection programs throughout the nation. In addition to serving as a liaison among these officials, the Association facilitates their communication with the Federal government and promotes public education. Long before the enactment of the Clean Water Act, State and Interstate professionals were working to protect and improve water quality. They continue to lead the way in creating and realizing a vision for clean water in America.

Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies

The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies is an organization of the largest publicly owned drinking water systems in the United States. AMWA’s membership serves tens of millions of people from Alaska to Puerto Rico with safe drinking water. The association represents the interests of these water systems by working with Congress and federal agencies and provides utility leaders with executive management resources.

Association of State Drinking Water Administrators

The Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) is the independent, nonpartisan, national organization representing the collective interests of the drinking water program administrators in the 50 states, five territories, the District of Columbia, and the Navajo Nation. ASDWA’s members implement the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) by regulating and providing technical assistance and funding for the nation’s public water systems (PWS) to ensure the protection of public health and a healthy economy.

Cleveland Water Alliance

Cleveland Water Alliance (CWA) is a non-profit organization that seeks to better utilize the economic and job-creating potential of Lake Erie while also urging greater care of the valuable natural asset. Established in 2014, CWA serves a mission to build upon Ohio and the Great Lakes’ assets and resources to create a clean water innovation ecosystem that harnesses technology, spurs the economy, enhances education, and drives research. Hydraulic Institute

Founded in 1917, the Hydraulic Institute (HI) is the largest association of pump manufacturers in North America. As the global authority on pumps and pump systems, HI develops standards and technical resources including application guidebooks, online tools, and calculators. HI manages efficiency programs that stem from its advocacy work with the US Department of Energy including the HI Energy Rating label which is used to identify efficient equipment and the Pump System Assessment Professional (PSAP) certification which designates qualified individuals. Both programs work to promote the efficient use of pumps and pumping systems. The Institute’s educational subsidiary, Pump Systems Matter (PSM), provides product neutral training on energy efficiency, reliability, and effective applications of pump systems through an extensive catalog of live, virtual, and on-demand courses and webinars.

Internet of Water Coalition

The Internet of Water Coalition is a group of organizations working together with federal, state, and local government partners to build foundational water data infrastructure across the US and create a community of people and organizations using water data to make better decisions. We believe better data means better water management. Through close collaboration and engagement, we help partners modernize their water data infrastructure to make more effective water management decisions. We support water data management by providing tools that improve the discoverability, accessibility, and usability of water data, educational programs for data producers, users, and decision-makers, and access to a nationwide community of practice. National Marine Sanctuary Foundation

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, established in 2000, is the official non-profit partner of the National Marine Sanctuary System. National Rural Water Association

The National Rural Water Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to training, supporting, and promoting the water and wastewater professionals that serve small and rural communities across the country. NRWA provides training and technical assistance through 49 affiliated State Rural Water Associations that currently have over 31,000 utility system members. Rural Water training and technical assistance covers every aspect of operating, managing and financing water and wastewater utilities.

Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy (Duke University)

The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University improves environmental policy making worldwide through objective, fact-based research to confront the climate crisis, clarify the economics of limiting carbon pollution, harness emerging environmental markets, put the value of nature’s benefits on the balance sheet, develop adaptive water management approaches, and identify other strategies to attain community resilience.  The Nicholas Institute is part of Duke University and its wider community of world-class scholars. This unique resource allows the Nicholas Institute’s team of economists, scientists, lawyers and policy experts to not only deliver timely, credible analyses to a wide variety of decision makers, but also to convene these decision makers to reach a shared understanding regarding this century’s most pressing environmental problems.

Rural Community Assistance Partnership

The Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) is a national network of non-profit partners working to ensure that small, rural and tribal communities have access to resources, tools and technical assistance that create capacity and opportunity for increased rural prosperity. RCAP and its six regional partners have more than 300 team members operating on the ground building capacity in rural and tribal communities in every state and the US Territories across the country.  Every year, RCAP reaches millions of rural residents through water/wastewater, economic development, regionalization, and other technical assistance projects and trainings. RCAP’s work has an outsized impact in disadvantaged communities, with a focus on helping those who need it most.

SIWI

SIWI is a not-for-profit institute with a wide range of expertise in water governance. We create knowledge, develop capacity, and offer policy advice to countries, communities, and companies. We work globally to change how water is understood, valued and managed. As advocates and advisors, we show how improved water governance is key to a fairer, more prosperous, and resilient future. SIWI has helped shape water governance outcomes at the basin, country, regional and local levels for over three decades. These outcomes include policy reform, development and implementation of water strategies, and strengthened institutions.

For more than 50 years, Stroud Water Research Center has focused on one thing: fresh water. The Aspen Institute

The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program (EEP) addresses critical energy, environmental, and climate change issues through non-partisan, non-ideological convening, with the specific intent of bringing together diverse stakeholders to improve the process and progress of policy-level dialogue. This enables EEP to sit at a critical intersection in the conversation and bring together diverse groups of expert stakeholders. In addition to energy and environmental policy, which the program has been addressing for several decades, EEP is now actively and purposefully engaging in climate change policy – mitigating the effects of climate change, adapting to the inevitable impacts of climate change, and helping to build relationships for cooperation needed to achieve these goals amongst people and nations.

The International Water Association (IWA) is the leading network and global knowledge hub for water professionals, and anyone committed to the future of water. IWA, which is a non-profit organisation, has a legacy of over 70 years. IWA connects water professionals in over 140 countries to find solutions to global water challenges as part of a broader sustainability agenda. The Water Research Foundation (WRF) is the leading research organization advancing the science of all water to meet the evolving needs of its subscribers and the water sector. United for Infrastructure, a non-profit organization, works to educate the American public and policymakers about the importance of infrastructure to the nation’s economy, workers, and communities.
