Event Speakers

Dr. Rebecca Peters - Keynote

Rower, Water Educator at Georgetown University, and Earth Action Lead at NASA Goddard

Dr. Rebecca Peters career spans government, academia, think tanks, and the private sector. She brings a decade of experience connecting scientific and operational communities, currently serving at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center where she builds partnerships to accelerate scientific innovation and applications. Her prior experience includes serving as the Senior International Water Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, as well as fellowships with the Aspen Tech Policy Hub, Chatham House, and as a Luce Scholar at the Asian International Rivers Center in Yunnan, China. She earned a doctorate from the University of Oxford, dual M.Sc. degrees in political economy and water science as a Marshall Scholar, and Berkeley B.A. and B.Sc. as a Truman Scholar and Fellow of Berkeley Law. Rebecca serves on the faculty at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and has published in Scientific American, Foreign Affairs, and The World Today. In July 2024, she joined a 30-person crew from nine countries to complete a 350km source-to-sea expedition of the Zambezi, the fourth longest river in Africa.
