An Evening On The Anacostia River

The Reservoir Center continues to advance our key pillars of education and community engagement. Most recently, we partnered with Living Classrooms and the Washington, D.C. Department of Energy and Environment for an evening of kayaking and cleanup on the Anacostia River.

After a brief introduction to the program and safety training, participants used kayaks to collect trash.

In all, we removed a lot of trash, and the data gathered from this program is critical to informing policy and education focused on reducing litter that washes into the river. It was wonderful to meet so many people who share our passion for the river and reducing marine pollution.
